Completed in 1978, the Habibie & Ainun Pendopo served as a welcoming space throughout President B.J. Habibie and Ibu Ainun’s years in public service, including his presidency from 1998 to 1999. Designed with a lower ceiling than a traditional pendopo, the space offers an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy, reflecting the couple’s approach to receiving their guests.
Over the years, the Pendopo hosted distinguished visitors, including Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão. Even after his presidency, President Habibie continued to receive newly elected Indonesian presidents here, sharing counsel and exchanging ideas. The room also bears Ainun’s personal touch through its carefully curated paintings, porcelain collection, and antique Chinese furniture, each adding character to its enduring story.

Today, the Pendopo continues its tradition of bringing people together in a setting that feels both distinguished and welcoming. Accommodating up to 120 guests in a theatre arrangement, it is ideal for press conferences, media gatherings, state dinners, product launches, ceremonial occasions, and other events that call for meaningful conversations and memorable hospitality.
