Established on 11 August 2009, Ainun’s final birthday before her passing – the Habibie & Ainun Library stands as one of the most quietly significant rooms in the house. Spanning 112 square metres, it was here that Habibie received his guests personally, offering the kind of warmth that few public figures extend so freely. The room has since carried that spirit forward, most famously as a setting in the film Habibie & Ainun, where its character spoke for itself.
The Library houses a collection of 5,000 volumes across majestic floor-to-ceiling shelves. Its ceilings are carved with the the truntum motif, a batik pattern traditionally worn when receiving guests, woven here into the architecture as a permanent gesture of welcome.
With a theatre capacity of 80, the Library accommodates forums, press conferences, talks, product launches, bilateral meetings, and sacred ceremonies including weddings.
