Built in 1976 and first lived in by the Habibie family in 1978, Wisma Habibie & Ainun is more than a heritage house. Located across three kavlings in Patra Kuningan, South Jakarta, this residence once became the home and intellectual centre of Indonesia’s third president, where ideas, conversations, and memories were shared through the years.
Each of the six spaces inside the house carries its own story and architectural character. From carved pillars inspired by Masjidan ornamentation to ceilings adorned with the truntum batik motif, every detail was designed with meaning and purpose, preserving the spirit of the home across generations.
Today, Wisma Habibie & Ainun welcomes intimate weddings, diplomatic gatherings, corporate events, and cultural programmes. More than simply a venue, it offers a timeless setting where history, philosophy, and human connection come together in every corner.
The Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Lobby welcomes visitors with the values that shaped Wisma Habibie & Ainun—unity, humanity, and respect for Indonesia’s cultural diversity.
Originally envisioned as a Civilization Library where Indonesians could reconnect with their cultural roots, this space was later renamed the Habibie & Ainun Library in 2010 as a tribute to Hasri Ainun Habibie.
The Pendopo is the heart of the Habibie & Ainun Pavilion. In the past, B. J. Habibie and Ainun received guests in this space. This area was even used as a cabinet meeting room.
The Intellectual Garden was B.J. Habibie’s place of quiet reflection—a space where he would walk to clear his mind, seek inspiration, and contemplate solutions to complex challenges.
Named in honor of the renowned Indonesian choreographer and painter Bagong Kussudiardja, this room celebrates the nation’s journey of growth, resilience, and cultural identity.
B.J. Habibie and Hasri Ainun Habibie were laid in repose before their final journey to the National Heroes Cemetery in Kalibata, making this space a place of remembrance and quiet reflection.
